ARTIST STATEMENT: For decades I have been concerned about the excessive amount of waste that we humans generate, items that not only can be recycled but also could be re-purposed or upscaled. This notion tremendously influences my artwork. Seldom do I purchase new materials for my art pieces. Only if absolutely needed will I buy fasteners (nails, screws, etc.), instead most often employing used nails, screws, etc. and even buying mis-mixed paint from local paint retailers. My stockpile of found wood, metal, etc. guide my designs. As witnessed by much of my artwork, the barn shape has influenced the look of what I create. My initial art barn piece dates back to 2008. There seems to be no end in sight to my fascination with the barn shape. I continue to make pieces in addition to the barn shape and those are also guided by materials that I have rescued from landfills.
