DESCRIPTION: This piece is finished by a process called naked raku. All the exterior markings are made from carbon. There is no glaze on the outside. I did glaze the interior so the piece is waterproof should you want to use it for flowers. Being raku, it is not recommended for use involving wear and tear as stoneware pottery is. Naked raku pieces are all unique and one of a kind. A more detailed explanation explaining the process comes with purchase. This pieces is 7 1/2 inches tall. Cost is $50. Free shipping. ARTIST BIO: I spent a previous life as a middle school teacher, but now consider myself a full time potter. I divide my work into three main categories: functional ware, raku ware, and what I call my gemstone ware. These are lidded pieces where the glaze has been matched with knobs made from colorful minerals, most polished to enhance their beauty. Since shows are on temporary hold, I have uploaded many more samples of my work on my Facebook page and my Etsy shop, friedfired pottery. If you would like to see other examples feel free to contact me via email as firstname.lastname@example.org, through my Etsy shop or Facebook.
